Paperback. Condición: Very Good. This copy is NEAR FINE; the text is clear, bright, and unmarked; binding is tight, but pages and edges show age. The covers are also near fine: intact in all ways, including color and design, but wear along edges, corners and spine and rubbing on front and rear. We have a five star rating because… of our fulfilment success and because our descriptions are accurate. We guarantee: NO NASTY SURPRISES.

Draft script for the 1974 film. Based on the 1927 novel by Hermann Hesse. A depressed half-man half-animal (played by Max von Sydow) is introduced to the hallucinogenic world of the "Magic Theater," where he seeks redemption via a metaphysical transcendence. The film took seven years of complicated pre-production to create, incl…uding building a relationship with the Hesse family in order to acquire the rights. While "Steppenwolf" is a precisely-realized film replete with Jungian symbols and created with some of the best special effects available at the time, the film has remained somewhat obscure due to problems with its marketing and distribution, including the color of the prints having been incorrectly developed. Set in 1920s Germany, shot on location in Germany and Switzerland. Black titled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers, with credits for novelist Hermann Hesse. Title page present, dated April 1971, with credits for screenwriter Fred Haines. 104 leaves, with last page of text numbered 103. Mimeograph duplication, with blue undated revision pages throughout. Pages Fine, wrapper Near Fine, bound with two gold brads.

Six vintage reference photographs from the 1967 film. With printed mimeo snipes affixed to the verso. The first film adaptation of James Joyce's influential modernist novel, and one of the only adaptations to take its dialogue directly from the book. The film came under heavy threat of censorship due to profane (for the time) la…nguage, and was given an X rating in the UK after director Joseph Strick refused to edit out any of the "offending" passages. Set in Dublin, Ireland, and shot there on location. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, several lightly toned.
