Hardcover. Condición: New. 'Zaha Hadid: Heydar Aliyev Centre is devoted to the new cultural center designed by Zaha Hadid in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku. As one of the most important cultural centers in the country, the building houses a variety of institutions under one roof. With the design, the renowned architect won the architecture competition in 2007. Inside its surface of fiberglass-reinforced concrete the building contains an auditorium that seats over a thousand, a conference center, a museum, and a library. Its open, inviting, and curvilinear design, which pics up and expands on forms from the surrounding environment, strongly differentiates the building from the city's monumental architecture of the Soviet era. Photographs by Helene Binet and Iwan Baan display the building in all of its facets, making it possible for the reader to experience its formal, haptic, and spatial qualities. Essays explain conceptual and technical aspects of this impressive piece of architecture. Gebundene Ausgabe. Condición: Neu. Since 1995, Dhaka-based architecture firm Kashef Chowdhury / URBANA has produced an astonishing collection of works of divergent scales, typologies, and contexts located in one of the most meteorologically challenging regions in the world. A hospital introduced into an economy decimated by rising oceans, a shelter against cyclones in Bangladesh's southern coastal region, and architectural interventions in one of the world's densest metropolitan areas: Kashef Chowdhury / URBANA's designs are incisive, critical responses to varied issues and urgencies rooted in the belief that architecture must be a reflection of, and sympathetic to, increasingly fragile ecological conditions.Meditations in Entropy is the first full monograph on the work of Kashef Chowdhury / URBANA. It features 18 of the firm's realized designs in detail through photographs by acclaimed architectural photographer H?l?ne Binet as well as numerous plans, drawings, sketches, and other images. Perceptive essays are contributed by the distinguished critics and historians Kenneth Frampton, Robert McCarter, William J. R. Curtis, and Philip Ursprung, and by Ainun Nishat, a renowned water resource and climate change specialist. An illustrated catalogue of Kashef Chowdhury / URBANA's projects and realized buildings rounds off this beautifully designed volume. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1838.…

In this book, the impressive building and structural setting of the Nordjyllands Art Museum becomes fully appreciated. Designed by Elissa and Alvar Aalto and Jean-Jacques Baru?l, the buildings housing the collections enable visitors to experience the unique and always changing combination of space, lighting and weather. The works of art have optimal conditions in these light, sublime and flexible rooms. Though the succession of enthralling photographs by internationally acclaimed H?l?ne Binet form the nucleus of the book, it also includes essays on the history of the museum, the interplay of light within building, as well as a presentation of initial sketches for the building., Danish/ English, Year1999, Illust.
