Brick red cloth-covered boards are elegantly contrasted by gold spine lettering. The covers are in great shape with nice square corners and only a hint of light rubbing to the corners and slightly indented spine caps. The binding is square and tight. Minor abrasion to the front flyleaf. The interior pages are clean, bright as new, and unmarked. Lipids are easily extracted from tissues due to their hydrophobic nature, but the resulting mixtures require further purification. Thin layer and column chromatography are commonly used for separation, while high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) provide precise analysis. GLC, in particular, is highly sensitive and useful for detecting subtle molecular differences. While research labs use advanced techniques for lipid analysis, hospitals often rely on simpler chemical derivatization methods for routine quantification of lipids like triacylglycerol and cholesterol.
