This issue guest edited by Bill Berkson, and bears his signature inclusion of a "Leon" poem, his collaborative poet-project with Larry Fagin, Ron Padgett, Michael Brownstein, Anne Waldman, Joan Inglis (Fagin), Jim Carroll, and others. The Leon poem here is dedicated to "Leon Crabtr…ee," likely Lee Crabtree, a poet who was close with Ed Sanders and Peter Schjeldahl. This issue is from the collection of the bookseller and publisher Laurence McGilvery, who published the facsimile edition of The Floating Bear in 1973. To create the facsimile, McGilvery removed the staples of the issues used, though this issue remains stapled. Contributors include: Larry Fagin, Bill Berkson, and Ron Padgett; Max Ernst; Michael Brownstein; Anne Waldman; Tom Clark; Clark Coolidge; Blaise Cendrars (Ron Padgett, trans.); Bill Berkson; David Shapiro; Diane di Prima; Kenneth Koch; John Thorpe; Ron Padgett; Lewis Warsh; and John Ashbery.
