Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. Air Commentary By Group Captain W Helmore Illustrated by Eric Kennington - 15 Full Plates of RAF Heroes / Legends Published by George Allen & Unwin 1942 - 90 Pages - B&W Illustrations Air Commentary by Group Captain W. Helmore is a fascinating snapshot of wartime Britain, capturing the spirit and strategy of the Royal Air Force during a pivotal moment in history. The book is a collection of transcripts from Helmore's monthly BBC broadcasts between September 1941 and July 1942. These broadcasts were designed to inform and uplift the British public during World War II, offering insights into the RAF's operations, the evolving air war, and the experiences of aircrew. Helmore, himself a senior RAF officer and technical expert, brought both authority and clarity to his commentary. - It blends first hand military insight with a tone accessible to civilians. - Offers a contemporary perspective on wartime aviation, rather than a retrospective analysis. - Includes recollections of distinguished aircrew, giving voice to those on the front lines. - The original edition featured a dust jacket illustrated by Eric Kennington, known for his evocative war art.
