First Edition. Second number of this long-running little magazine devoted to emerging and underrepresented writers, founded in 1966 at the Brooklyn apartment of poet and contributing editor Denise Levertov, who had taught Jarrett and Laurie. Simultaneously democratic and ephemeral, its original format, a sheaf of loose mimeographed sheets tucked in a mailing envelope, inspired its name: "If you liked a poem, you could pin it to the wall. If you didn't like a poem, you could use it as a napkin." This number features poems by Marge Piercy and a story by Elia Katz, among others. The envelope, illustrated by Mimi Gross, is addressed to Indiana writer and early subscriber Roger Pfingston. Over the following decades, Hanging Loose would publish new writing by Dorothy Allison, Ha Jin, Wayne Koestenbaum, Audre Lorde, Eileen Myles, and a teenage Emma Straub, and publish the first books of Sherman Alexie, Eula Biss, Kimiko Hahn, and Maggie Nelson under its Hanging Loose Press imprint. An early and complete issue, scarce in commerce, of this landmark Brooklyn poetry 'zine. Forty-four mimeographed typed pages, measuring 9 x 6 inches. Loose as issued in original pictorial mailing envelope, with address label; index card inscribed "compliments of the editors," initialed by Dick Lourie, laid in. Light shelfwear.

Ostensibly a tribute to Billy Klüver and E.A.T., the book contains texts by Klüver ("pieces of good advice") in English, Japanese and Swedish with translation and additional text by Taguchi, and drawings & text by Mimi Gross. It is signed twice by Gross and bears her blind-stamp design and is numbered 52/100 copies. In addition the book is inscribed by Julie Martin (signed only "Julie") to Jill Johnston and dated 2006. Finally it bears Johnston's ink-stamp which reads "Write First. Then Live." J.J. Minor wear to covers and some spotting on several interior pages, else VG+. A Rare latter-day Experiments in Art & Technology relic.

Captures the chaotic energy of the Ruckus project as a whole, and is seldom seen now, though there's no real sense of how large a number of copies originally appeared. Size: 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. First edition printed in an edition of 26, each copy in the edition labeled A-Z, with hand painted covers. Very Good. Light wear to cover edges including rubbing, 1.1 cm. tear to surface of recto edge, two 3 mm. tears to verso edge and additional small tears to surface of cover edges. Light bumping of upper right corner of pages, contents otherwise clean and unmarked. This copy is lettered C with an inscription by the artist to the recipients of this copy.

11 x 10 1/4 in., 64 pp., spiral binding in cloth over boards. Beginning on Sept. 11, 2001, Mimi Gross filled five sketchbooks with ink drawings made on the downtown streets, often working in the dark, directly at Ground Zero. Simultaneously, Charles Bernstein was also writing in response to the events of 9/11. Gross proposed a collaboration after hearing Bernstein read his new writings at the Zinc Bar in New York City a few weeks later. Together, Gross and Bernstein made a selection of images and text for the book. Some of These Daze was produced by Katherine Kuehn at Granary Books. It was printed in silkscreen in several colors by Luther Davis at Axelle Fine Arts. Ltd., spiral-bound at Print Icon, and cased-in with printed cloth over boards by Judith Ivry. There was an edition of 75 copies, signed and numbered, of which 60 were for sale. There were also 5 artists' proofs, signed and numbered. This is an artists' proof. As new.
