La trasposizione su lastra eseguita con abile e fine tratteggio è opera di Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi, artista, scenografo ed architetto bolognese attivo perlopiù a Roma, noto per la sua abilità di disegnatore, incisore e pittore di paesaggi. A Roma dipinse decorazioni con vedute paesistiche nella villa Doria Pamphili ( da lui stesso progettata in collaborazione con Algardi ), nel palazzo Borghese, al Quirinale ed in S. Maria ai Monti. Grimaldi rappresenta la prosecuzione del particolare tipo di paesaggio creato da Antonio Carracci e dal Domenichino, che egli diffuse anche in quadri da cavalletto, ben identificabili per il colore brillante e smaltato, e in numerosissimi disegni di accurata fattura . Grimaldi, siglata in basso a sinistra "Daman excudit", e a destra verso il centro (poco visibile) "Ticiano Venetia", pubblicata a Bologna verso la metà del XVII secolo. Cm. 34 x 47, tagliata a filo del rame. Piccoli e invisibili rinforzi lungo il margine sx. e nell'angolo superiore dx, ma buon esemplare. (12534) Suggestiva acquaforte di G. F.Grimaldi detto "il Bolognese", la cui attività si svolse prevalentemente a Roma, come pittore, decoratore, scenografo, ed anche incisore, nel solco della scuola del Carracci. Sulla sua multiforme attività cfr. lo studio di D. Batorska, Giovan Francesco Grimaldi (2012) e R. Cannata, in D.B .I., LIX/pp. 519-23. L'acquaforte non è firmata, si presume derivata dal Tiziano ma senza riscontro effettivo. In un arioso paesaggio lacustre sovrastato da un castello con montagne sullo sfondo, l'acquaforte raffigura una barca con a bordo due pescatori e un giovane suonatore di liuto. L'acquaforte, dal segno assai caratteristico, qui in prima tiratura, fu in seguito riprodotta in contropartita (con la barca sulla destra), e il rame fu infine utilizzato anche dai Remondini.
