This illustrated monograph accompanied the exhibition "Geoffrey Beene Unbound," held at the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, from February to April 1994. The exhibition showed more than 150 of Beene's designs and concentrated on work made after 1983. At the center of the book is a long interview with the designer about his working methods. He talks about draping and sketching, about moving side seams toward the front or back so the garment embraces the body, and about minimalism as the modern way forward: fewer seams, less weight, less care, fewer details.
