Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for Joplin Historical Society stamps on the textblock bottom and the FFFP and a circus ownership note on the front pastedown. Book Condition: Very Good; insect mottling to the bottom of the rear board; slight shelfwear to head, tail, and tips. DJ: Very Good; NOT Price Clipped ($5.50); missing small piece at bottom of rear panel; light wear to head, tail, and tips. Gray cloth boards and spine with brick red lettering on the spine and front board. 205 pp 8vo. The author, Robert F. Gollmar who later graduated law school and was a judge, recalls his life with the circus, which is based on his family's story of running the Gollmar Brothers Circus around the turn of the 20th century. There were four Gollmar brothers, Fred, Charles, Ben, and Walter, of whom only Fred was alive for the writing of this book. The Gollmar Circus was the fourth largest railroad circus in America in 1916. A two-ring circus, this book recounts the travel and tent hazards of the ear, the street parades, the acts, the performers, and the animals. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket. Signed by Author(s).
