Its commercial cultivation is gaining momentum in Gujarat. Gujarat occupies 5,340 hectare of area with 55,040 MT production with a productivity of 10.21 MT/ ha (Anon, 2016). The variety of custard apple named Gujarat Junagadh Custard apple-1 (GJCA-1) was developed by Department of Horticulture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during year 2009 and recommended for cultivation. Degradable tapes are easy to wrap and are effective to establish contact between stock and scion stick and it automatically degrades after a period of time and thus there is no need of removing it manually, which also saves the labour cost. 80 pp. Englisch.

La fruta es popular por su pulpa dulce y ligeramente ácida, de text…ura cremosa. Se conoce con varios nombres vernáculos, como manzana de azúcar, sopa dulce, sitaphal y sharifa en diferentes partes del país. Es un pequeño árbol de hoja caduca o semiperenne. Su cultivo comercial está cobrando impulso en Gujarat. Gujarat ocupa 5.340 hectáreas de superficie con una producción de 55.040 MT con una productividad de 10,21 MT/ha (Anon, 2016). La variedad de chirimoya denominada Gujarat Junagadh Custard apple-1 (GJCA-1) fue desarrollada por el Departamento de Horticultura de la Universidad Agrícola de Junagadh durante el año 2009 y recomendada para su cultivo. Las cintas degradables son fáciles de envolver y son eficaces para establecer el contacto entre la cepa y el vástago y se degradan automáticamente después de un período de tiempo y por lo tanto no hay necesidad de retirarlas manualmente, lo que también ahorra el costo de mano de obra.
