Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. viii, 199, [1] pages. Notes. Appendix (includes:Chronological List of States that have Recognized Israel. Estimated Jewish Population of Latin America, and Voting Tables on the Palestine Question). Selected Bibliography. In…dex. DJ has wear, soiling, tears, chips and discoloration at edges. Edward Bernard Glick received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida and spent the bulk of his career at Temple University where his last title was Professor Emeritus of Political Science. Early in his career he specialized in civil-military relations, the politics of national defense and Latin American affairs. Later he also addressed Middle East issues. He was fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and visited Israel frequently. He was a Research Assistant to Israel's United Nations Delegation and was Director of the Commission on International Affairs at the American-Jewish Congress. Dr. Glick has carefully examined all stages of the Palestine-Israel discussions. The role of Latin America in the United Nations General Assembly's first special session, the UNSCOP report, the partition resolution, the trusteeship proposals, Count Bernadotte's territorial suggestions, Israel's application for United Nations membership and the internationalization of Jerusalem are analyzed and interpreted in the light of the aspirations, motivations, and power position of these countries in the United Nations. This work reveals how and why individual Latin American nations and the region as a whole have, except for the Jerusalem question; generally supported the Israel side of the Palestine question. It shows how this support was often crucial in either blocking the adoption of action inimical to Israel's interests or in providing sufficient votes to ensure the passage of resolutions beneficial to her. The book is a valuable addition to the history of Israel's re-establisment and consolidation in modern times.
