Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. First Printing [Stated]. 512 pages. The front and rear illustrated endpapers contain the plate-signed signatures of the 11 Pittsburgh Pirates players who knocked off the heavily favored New York Yankees in the 1960 World Series. The front free endpaper is hand signed "Best wishes, Jim O'Brien"; the title page is hand signed "Bill Mazeroski." Contains a Foreword by Steve Blass, Pittsburgh Pirates broadcaster and 1971 World Series pitching hero. DJ some wearm scuffs and small tears to dust jacket edges. Pittsburgh sports author Jim O'Brien has written 29 books in his "Pittsburgh Proud" series. He is on the advisory board for the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, and has been inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was given the Bob Prince Award for his journalism efforts and the David L. Lawrence Award for "promoting Pittsburgh in a positive manner on a national level" from Vectors. He was cited as a "Legend" by the Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame. This is a book about baseball, and about those who love it--the players and their fans. It is book number 21 for Pittsburgh sports author Jim O'Brien. William Stanley Mazeroski (born September 5, 1936) is an American former baseball second baseman who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, from 1956-1972. Nicknamed "Maz", he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001. Mazeroski is regarded as one of the greatest defensive second basemen of all time. He was an All-Star for seven seasons and a Gold Glove Award winner for eight seasons. He was a key member of the Pirates' World Series-winning teams in 1960 and 1971, the former of which he clinched by hitting a walk-off home run in Game 7-at the time the only game 7 walk-off homer in World Series history.

Añadir al carritoOriginal art for an unused poster design for the 1959 film. A graphite, black pencil, ink, and white paint on paper mock-up for an unused design for Bert Stern's classic 1959 jazz documentary, created by an unidentified artist, likely for the film's production company, Galaxy Productions. A handsome, minimal abstract design, befitting jazz-oriented design of the late 1950s and early 1960s. The legendary 1959 jazz documentary, set at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island, shot in high style by commercial and fashion photographer Stern, and featuring performances by Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Dinah Washington, and Eric Dolphy, among others. Stern's naturalistic approach to shooting a festival event, the first of its kind to be attempted on such a scale, influenced and predicted by several years many similar documentaries, such as Monterey Pop" (1968), "Woodstock" (1970), and "The Concert for Bangladesh" (1972). 16 x 18.25 inches, archivally framed to 17.75 x 20 inches. Very Good plus, with light toning overall and staples and staple holes at the corners. National Film Registry.
