Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book posits that constructing a dirigible aerostat is achievable with the scientific knowledge of the time. It presents two systems to orient an aerostat, addressing the challenge of maintaining a course in an atmosphere subject to unpredictable movement. The first system employs a large, round or square parachute-like plane attached to the aerostat; the second system uses a motor driving a propeller, which can be moved around the central axis of the craft. The author bases these designs on scientific principles and observations of bird flight, arguing that birds navigate by transforming a perpendicular fall into an oblique descent using their wings as inclined planes. The book draws parallels between aerial and marine navigation, emphasizing the need for a motor powerful enough to propel the craft against wind resistance. It concludes that, while further testing is necessary, the principles outlined within provide a path towards achieving dirigible aerostats and unlocking the potential of air travel. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
