Cameron went to Russia around 1779 at the invitation of Catherine the Great as architect and landscape designer: he had spent time in Rome studying classical forms, and was deeply influenced by this stay, and by the English landscape movement when he designed the magnificent palaces, gardens and pavilions in Russia. An informative, well-illustrated monograph with useful bibliography.
