Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book guides you through the construction, adjustment, and use of an apparatus commonly employed by scientists to measure the thermal expansion of solid materials. Thermal expansion refers to the physical phenomenon where an object increases in volume as its temperature rises. The method discussed in this book involves the use of the interference of light waves to precisely measure this expansion. The manual includes detailed instructions on assembling and calibrating the apparatus, along with techniques for preparing and handling the sample specimens. By providing step-by-step procedures, the author ensures that readers can confidently utilize this valuable tool for their own research. This book is an excellent resource for scientists and students in fields such as materials science, engineering, and physics who seek to accurately determine the thermal expansion properties of various materials. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book breaks new ground in the understanding of thermal expansion of ceramic materials. The author, a notable physicist, describes an innovative interference method to gauge dimensional changes in such materials over a vast temperature range of 20 to 950°C. This method is particularly useful for studying small samples, a common challenge in this field. The book delves into the practical applications of this technique, demonstrating its ability to measure expansion in various ceramic materials such as glaze, terra cotta, tile, porcelain, and clay. Through numerous experiments, the author reveals how different materials exhibit unique expansion properties, and how these properties can change significantly at different temperatures. This work not only advances the theoretical understanding of thermal expansion but also provides valuable insights for optimizing the manufacture and performance of ceramic products. By highlighting the importance of accurate expansion data, the book emphasizes the need for further research and careful material selection to ensure the durability and longevity of ceramic products. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Añadir al carritoFirst Edition, Proof Copy. Octavo, original printed cloth wrappers, 161 pages. "After producing a Scout Handbook during their first year of operation, the BSA began working on a Scoutmaster Handbook almost immediately. They issued about 3 separate printings of an unbound draft edition and an unbound "proof" edition in 1912 and 1913 for evaluation, then released the first official Scoutmaster Handbook edition in 1914." WorldCat lists one library holding for any of the first three proof printings, at the University of Utah. Extremely scarce title, the predecessor to the first official printing of the Handbook for Scout Masters in March of 1914 in which 10,000 copies were produced. According to a Scouting website this is the 2nd of four printings of the "proof" edition, after a first printing with 203 numbered pages. The number of copies produced for the first three proof printings are unknown. A true rarity. Very Good in cloth wrappers, some loss at top spine end.…
