Eventuelle nähere Zeitangabe, wann am 16ten früh die Jury zusammentritt, erbitte ich in meine Dresdener Wohnung Chemnitzerstr. 19 [.]". Georg Papperitz erfuhr seine künstlerische Ausbildung in Dresden, Antwerpen und Paris. Nach seiner Teilnahme am Deutsch-Französischen Krieg ließ er sich 1871 in München nieder und unternahm von hier aus zahlreiche Studienreisen nach Paris, Holland, in die Schweiz und nach Italien. Zu seinen bekanntesten Gemälden gehören Kreuztragung Christi', Jagdzug der Diana' und Romeo und Julia'. Später war Papperitz vorwiegend als Portraitmaler tätig und schrieb auch Gedichte, die er 1887 unter dem Titel In der Dämmerung' veröffentlichte" (DBE). Upon his return from the front he settled in Munich and made study tours of Paris, London, Holland, Switzerland and Italy. - Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
