Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 2º. [4], 107, [1], 113-150, [8] pp. With portrait frontis. Leaf K4 is blank. Includes index. An imprint variant of the 1646 edition. In a later gilt-ruled, diced calf, re-cornered and backed, with original spine pieces laid down. Portrait frontis window-mounted into an original free endpaper. Title-page torn with loss to fore-edge corner of tail, supplied in facsimile (see pictures). Front free endpaper with calligraphic dedication "Amelia Durtnall Dec. 12th 1862". Volume has been fully conserved, fragile edges supported, end-bands re-sewn and all original paste-downs retained. Sir George Buck was an English antiquarian, historian, scholar and author. This, his major prose work, was left in rough draft at his death in 1622. His great-nephew extensively altered it and finally published it in 1646 as his own work. The authentic text of Buck's History was not published until 1979 by the editor Arthur Kincaid. A very good, complete copy, rare in any condition. Other images of the conservation of this volume are available on request. Wing B5307. ESTC R23817.
