No Binding. Condición: Fine. An original, historically significant autograph letter signed by Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl, dated December 31, 1889.  Ignaz Marcel Gaugengigl (1855 to 1932) was a highly prominent Bavarian-born American painter and printmaker who became a central figure in the late 19th-century Boston art scene. Known affectionately among his contemporaries as the "Meissonier of Boston" for his highly detailed and expressive style of painting, Gaugengigl's works are held in major museum collections. This specific letter is exceptionally desirable for fine art collectors and historians because it directly discusses his own artwork. Writing to a recipient named "Haven," Gaugengigl expresses gratitude for a gift and explicitly mentions gifting one of his own works, stating: "I hope you can find a place on Your walls or portfolio for this etching." Autograph letters from listed painters and artists that specifically reference their mediums or pieces carry a significant premium in the manuscript market. The letter features his characteristic artistic, sweeping cursive with a distinctively looped capital "G" and an angular "M".  Transcription My Dear Haven 10,000 Thanks for your kind wishes and gift, may the Lord reward you better than I can; I wish You many prosperous New Years, Health and Happyness. I hope you can find a place on Your walls or portfolio for this etching. I am your friend ever 31. Dec. 1889. I. M. Gaugengigl. Signed by Author(s).…
