Little is known of the author, who is credited with several books on education. His Principes lementaire de lecture, d'ecriture, de musique et de dessin (1817) was also published by Eymery. OCLC cites one copy of that book, at the University of Delaware. We suspect it is also an abridgement of Cours pratique d'Education, but it is smaller than our book. The calligraphy plates are by Alexandre Bourgoin, who was a celebrated writing master and wrote several books on the subject. His birth and death dates are not listed in any of the souces we checked. A little light foxing. Overall a very good copy of a rare book. First edition of a rare book outlining a course of education for young girls. We were unable to locate another copy of this book in OCLC, RLIN, COPAC, KVK or even the Biblliothque Nationale. This is an abridgement of the author's other work, Cours pratique d'Education l'usage des jeunes Demoiselles, which was published in three volumes from 1816 to 1817. This larger work is also rare. We could locate copies only in the Bibliothque Nationale and Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen, Germany.…
