Condición: Near Fine. Promotional broadside (3½ x 5½). Printed in red on card stock. Near fine. A World War II era ephemeral placard printed for the Jazz promoter Milt Gabler, credited for booking several of "the first informal jazz concerts in New York City" [*Hoffman*, Encyclopedia of Recorded Sound, Vol. 1, p. 221]. This anno…uncement for performances at Jimmy Ryan's Club lists many of the same performers noted on other promotional placards from 1944-45, thus our attribution of the date. These include Sidney Bechet, Max Kaminsky, George Zack, Milt Mezzrow, George Wettling, Art Hodes, Ed Hall, Sandy Williams, Danny Alvin and Pops Foster. Featured at the head of this billing is jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer Sidney Bechet, considered today one of the first important soloists in jazz. A scarce, well-preserved piece of ephemera.
