Still active today, the FRCC is one of the most famous and oldest rock climbing and mountaineering clubs in the UK, established 1906-1907. Volume XI is rarely seen - the contents are rich and varied, with contributions covering not just rock-climbing exploits in Lakeland but the flora & fauna of the Lake District, Herdwick sheep, geology, memoirs, etc. Notable contributors include W P Haskett-Smith,G Winthrop Young, Katharine Chorley and H M Kelly. Extensive b. & w. photographs. 240 pages plus 21 pages of absorbing adverts from the era (clothing, accommodation, equipment, etc.) One of my favourites is an advert for H. Harden & Son ('expert Alpine bootmakers') in Keswick. Tricounis anyone? Light foxing on the page ends and a slightly wrinkled spine cover, otherwise, good.
