Pertenceu à Academia das Ciências de Lisboa, à Academia Portuguesa da História e à Associação dos Arqueólogos Portugueses. Além da presente obra, publicou «O Carmo e a Trindade» (3 vols., 1939-1941) e «História do Palácio Nacional da Ajuda» (1959), e foi o responsável pela concepção e direcção artística da célebre maqueta de Lisboa anterior ao terramoto, concluída em 1958.
