Añadir al carritostapled wrappers. Condición: fair. 16mo; 91, 9 pages of ads ( promoting up to Dialogue N0. 40 ), lacks rear wrapper, orange top wrapper chipped at bottom and detached. H. Elliott McBride's contribution, " A 'Colored' Lecture" is for four lads, is in Negro dialect, and takes place in a school-room. The lead piece, by Metta Victor is, " Invisible heroes, or, What the telephone did : a dress drama for parlor exhibition, or amateur theatricals, for five young ladies." That appears to be a rather early use of a telephone in a dramatic setting { The telephone was patented only as recently as 1876}. In THE HOUSE OF BEADLE AND ADAMS, by Johannsen, is unfortunately cited under the title, "A Fortunate Mistake". [ D30 ].

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the view of the author, a clergyman and anti-papal activist within the Church of England, who defends the High Church movement against charges that it is too lenient towards Roman Catholicism. The author argues that the recent Papal aggression, in which the Pope established an episcopal hierarchy in England, was not due to High Church principles but rather to decades of legislation that favored Romanism and encouraged the secession of some High Churchmen to Rome. He claims that High Church principles oppose popery and are the only genuine safeguard against its doctrines, which are both innovations and corruptions of true Christianity. The author argues that the High Church movement is committed to defending the purity of the faith once delivered to the saints and will continue to do so despite opposition and slander. The book provides insights into the religious controversies of the mid-19th century and the complex relationship between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church. It highlights the importance of defending religious principles and the need for collaboration among those who share common beliefs. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
