Soft cover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Scarce anthology. Each poem appears in Czech and English. The first page has a crease in the lower left corner. Remaining pages are clean with no marks, creases, stains or wrinkles. A few pages have a mildly curled corner tip. The book's front cover has a couple of creases in…the lower right corner. There is no reading crease in the spine. Exterior covers and spine are very clean but with rubbing and scuff marks. Light wear to edges of covers and spine. There is also a small chip in the top edge of the front cover and a 1/4" tear in the top edge of the back cover. There are a couple of minor marks on the book's outer page edges. (Note: Photos may show a flash reflection.) PayPal always welcome. We pack all our books with care and ship in cardboard boxes. Shipment outside of the United States will require extra funds. Colour illustration by Alfons Mucha tipped onto front cover; all others are in black & white. This copy came from the library of Ewald Osers who contributed a number of the translations. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, bar chips to top and/or bottom section of spine. Previous own…er's book-plate laid in on front paste-down. Volume I only. Full leather over boards, hatched design on boards with gilt rule around perimeter, gilt stamped decoration on spine with spine label, fold-out map frontispiece titled "A Map of the General Scene of the Movements of the French and Allied Armies; during the Campaign in Saxony, in the Year 1813", translated by Alfred John Kempe, iv, [2], 343 pages, Notes by the French Editor pages 331-343. This book is one of the best first-hand accounts of Napoleon's Leipzig campaign demonstrating how he lived and worked in the field. The author was a Lieutenant Colonel of Calvary in Napoleon's staff. Spine is rubbed with loss of leather at head of spine, gilt faded, boards soiled & worn, wear along all edges, corners bumped with wear, some foxing on verso of map with only some very light staining on map itself (in very good condition), a page between the end of the Author's Preface and the page marked "Part The First " appears to have been removed but it could also be the way the book was bound, interior pages clean with the exception of a few small random stains. The bookplate is that of Sir Charles Lawrence Young (1839-1887), the seventh Baronet of North Dean in Great Britain. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 2 lbs 4 oz. He is pleased to be of assistance to General Ponsonby and his officers, and is happy to agree to the authorisation for Banso, as far as it concerns him. His English rights have been purchased by Curtis & Brown of Londo…n, to whom application must be made. He does not think they will ask for any remuneration. Asks the recipient to pass on his respects to the general, and in a postscript wonders whether he can tell him a good story concerning a lion hunt.
