Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 2nd Edition. This Egyptian Miracle; or, The Restoration of the Lost Speech of Ancient Egypt by Supernormal Means, recorded and edited by Frederic H. Wood, published in 1955 by John M. Watkins, London. Second Edition, Revised. An unusual investigation into alleged xenoglossy, mediumship, and survival after death centered upon the celebrated "Rosemary" case, in which an English medium purportedly spoke words and phrases in an otherwise unknown form of ancient Egyptian while communicating with a personality identified as "Lady Nona," said to have lived in Egypt during the Eighteenth Dynasty. Wood, working with Egyptologist A. J. Howard Hulme, recorded and studied the communications in an attempt to determine whether they preserved elements of the spoken language of ancient Egypt whose pronunciation had been lost. The resulting case became an intriguing episode in twentieth-century psychical research, bringing together Spiritualist mediumship, linguistic investigation, ancient Egyptian religion and history, reincarnation, and the possibility of memory surviving bodily death. This revised edition incorporates Wood's continuing study of the material and presents his case for the alleged restoration of ancient Egyptian speech through supernormal means. Hardcover with original dust jacket showing light shelfwear, toning, and wear to corners and ends.…
