Soft cover. Condición: As New. No Jacket. Book is inscribed and signed by author TWICE, on the title page (as "Charles D. Lauer"), and then again on the dedication page (as "Chuck.") First inscription is dated "Christmas, 2000," and we suspect both are to the author's nephew. True life tales of the Black Canyon Stagecoach Trail,… the Affair at Cottonwood Canyon, "Clifton: As Tough as They Came," etc. (PLEASE NOTE: The word "inscribed" means the author has written words in addition to his own name to this book -- often a salutation to the original buyer or recipient. If you are not familiar with the meaning of the term "inscribed," we strongly recommend a careful examination of the scans -- photos -- which accompany this listing.) 189 pp. including index. Originally sold for $6.95; here reduced from $35. Cover painting "The Arrest of Nock-ay-del-klinne by Francis Beaugureau (ilustrador). Inscribed by Author(s).

Añadir al carritoSoft Cover. Condición: Fine. First Edition Thus. 1985 date at title page. Scarce near fine translation of this classic work. Light shelf wear. Pages near fine; no writing. Bind fine, square. Features a new introduction by Lawrence H. White. Carl Menger (1840-1921) was the founder of the Austrian School of economics. Foundational… Austrian economist looks at "method". Menger's method emphasized the subjective theory of value, arguing that prices arise from individuals' subjective valuations; rather than production costs. His approach rejected historical or cost-based explanations, focusing instead on how marginal utility guides human choice and market exchange. From review: "Best of this volume could be considered: Menger's groundbreaking discussion of the "organic" origin of money, law, markets, and social institutions. Menger combines Burke's critique of "the spirit of innovation" with Karl von Savigny's historical insights into the origins of customary law. Menger insists that there are many facets of common law, custom, and inherited social institutions like money and markets that advance common welfare. These ideas heavily influenced F.A. Hayek's revival of spontaneous order theorizing in the mid 20th century. Menger's analysis of the organic origins of law and money carries lasting weight beyond the confines of now-forgotten 19th century disputes in the German speaking world. Menger's groundbreaking analysis of the emergence of money and law may draw inspiration from Burke and Savigny, but goes beyond in the uniqueness of his insights and analytical clarity. And, note that the best sections on law and money are less than half the book. The rest possibly can be safely ignored. Recommended are the three chapters of Book III (on organic development) and the lengthy Appendix VIII (on law). This should suffice for most and the rest is additionally useful for the specialized scholar. Printed in the United States of America. 237 pages. Insured post. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" Tall. Hames, Charles B. (Cover Design) (ilustrador).
