Mrs. Fox owned and operated the Y Grocery east of Dawson Springs during the 1940s and '50s. She built in 1960, and owned and operated the Fox's Nursing Home (New Dawson Springs Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Etawah County, AL, daughter of the late John Franklin and Emma Jeffreys Steadman. Mrs. Fox was married to Jess Fredrick Fox 23 Mar 1929. He died Feb. 9, 1971. Mrs. Fox was an avid quilter, gardener, and genealogist. Among her many accomplishments was a well researched genealogy of the Fox and Steadman families published in 1987. She was a faithful member of the Ilsley Christian Church for 73 years and assisted in establishing a perpetual care fund for the Ilsley Cemetery. She was an active member of the Dawson Springs Business and Professional Women's Club and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mrs. Fox was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael and Harold; three sisters and a brother. Survivors include two daughters, Gwyn McDonald, Dawson Springs and Louise Jackson, Springfield, TN; a son, John Emmet [Billie] Fox, Milpitas, CA; a foster daughter, Pauline Hensley, Pontiac, MI; a sister, Methyl Aldridge, Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren. She was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Etawah County, AL, daughter of the late John Franklin and Emma Jeffreys Steadman. Mrs. Fox was married to Jess Fredrick Fox 23 Mar 1929. He died Feb. 9, 1971. Mrs. Fox was an avid quilter, gardener, and genealogist. Among her many accomplishments was a well researched genealogy of the Fox and Steadman families published in 1987. She was a faithful member of the Ilsley Christian Church for 73 years and assisted in establishing a perpetual care fund for the Ilsley Cemetery. She was an active member of the Dawson Springs Business and Professional Women's Club and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mrs. Fox was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael and Harold; three sisters and a brother. Survivors include two daughters, Gwyn McDonald, Dawson Springs and Louise Jackson, Springfield, TN; a son, John Emmet [Billie] Fox, Milpitas, CA; a foster daughter, Pauline Hensley, Pontiac, MI; a sister, Methyl Aldridge, Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren. Pallbearers were her nephew Kenneth Jackson, her great-nephew, Brian Jackson, grandsons James McDonald, John McDonald, Montey Johnson, and great-grandson, Jason Johnson.…
