The title block on the front board has the design of sign hanging from a brick wall. 16 chapters with a small b/w illustration at the head of each chapter; 4 b/w illustrations on plates. The account's setting is England. The ends of the spine strip are a little frayed. Water stain is on the top and bottom ends of the front board. The back board is less thus. The text block ends have darkened. Three margins of the half-title page and the frontispiece have water stain. A plate has water stain on two margins. Four page margins are darkened from a laid-in book mark. Six page margins each have a 3/8 in. stain. Five page edges each have two 1/8 in. closed tears. One page margin has a 3/4 in. closed tear.
