Historian Michael Whitfield Foster examined the family records, particularly marriage records, held by the GRO for the latter part of the 19th century, and in doing so exposes thousands of errors - or at least disparities - between the GRO records and the other publicly available information. The author then compared the records held at the GRO that people request relating to Family History and compared the information with original marriage registers held locally.
