The second part of the celebrated series "Theatrum Europaeum"; the 2nd edition (1637); this part was written by Johann Philipp Abelin (1600-1634) and Johann flittner. Abelin's parts (1 and 2) are considered the best although these books are especially famous for their copper engravings by Matthäus Merian the Elder (1593-1650). This copy contains no large plates and maps (60 engravings are listed in the book), only the frontispiece and (all) 50 copper engravings in the text (mostly portraits of rulers or commanders, but also battle scenes etc.).
