    Hardback. Condición: Good to Very Good. Editio Nova. 1824. New edition. xxxi, 320pp. This volume contains the Satires of Juvenal and Persius, edited for the use in schools. The text of the Satires is given in Latin, and includes, in English, a Preface, Brewster's translation of Persius, Dr. Johnson's London (or Imitation of the Third Satire of Juvenal) and his Vanity of Human Wishes (or Imitation of the Tenth Satire of Juvenal), and Smith's tables of Roman money. The book is bound in contemporary half leather over marbled paper covered boards and gold titling and designs on the spine. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with expected shelf wear and soiling to the boards and a dent near the middle of the fore edge of the front board. The corners are bumped with some damage and a little loss to the leather around the corner tips. The leather is missing from the top 1 3/4" of the spine.The contents are tight and clean apart from some scattered small marks and light foxing to pages 65 to 98 and a few other pages. The last page is browned in places with some foxing and the title-page is lightly soiled with a little faint foxing. A name and date (1840) has been written on the front free endpaper and a name and date (1884) written in red ink on the front fixed endpaper.
