Backstrip titled in gilt & black, front cover in black; backstrip with gilt publisher's device, front cover with gilt vignette, rear with black publisher's device; rules along upper & lower edges - in gilt at backstrip and front cover, in black at rear cover. Backstrip worn at head and lightly so at foot, and darkened to detriment of black lettering clarity. Hinges lightly rubbed. Covers a little marked, and tips of outer corners rubbed and a little curled; front also darkened towards edges, and with spot of wear at upper edge. No dust jacket. Endpapers split along hinges; white verso of front flyleaf with a few brown-beige spot- & dot-stains. Title-page faintly dust-marked. Edges of text-block toned, top edge also dust-marked.
