Añadir al carritohardcover. Condición: Very Good. First Edition. Before the Dawn: Poems Legendary and Lyrical, Hugh I'Anson Fausset â" 1st Edition Publication: London, J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., 1924 Formatting: 8vo, pp. [viii], [144] Condition Report: Very Good. The original textured tan cloth binding remains firm, square, and structurally sound, with the printed paper spine label entirely intact and sharply legible, showing only the faintest rubbing to the extremities. The text block is tight; the edges exhibit moderate, uniform age-toning and mild scattered foxing typical of the era's paper stock. Internally, the leaves are generally bright and clean, though some expected localised foxing is present, primarily relegated to the preliminary pages and margins. The exceptionally scarce original dust jacket remains remarkably well-preserved for its vintage, and correctly retains the original "5/- NET" price to the spine. The jacket exhibits mild overall darkening and light surface dust-soiling, particularly along the spine panel, with minor edge-wear and shallow nicking to the head and tail, but remains a highly attractive. Catalogue Note: A handsome first edition of Hugh I'Anson Fausset's early poetic works, complete with the exceptionally scarce original dust wrapper. While Fausset (1895â"1965) is predominantly remembered today for his perceptive literary criticism and biographical studies of figures such as Keats, Coleridge, and Donne, his early creative output offers a fascinating, tactile glimpse into the post-Edwardian literary landscape. The survival of the fragile paper dust jacket, complete with its original pricing and contemporary publisher's reviews for Fausset'sÂStudies in Idealism on the rear panel, elevates this copy significantly. Unjacketed copies occasionally surface, but examples retaining their original 1920s wrappers are genuinely scarce on the open market. Before the Dawn is a lyrical and reflective collection of verse by Hugh I'Anson Fausset. Balancing legendary motifs with deeply personal introspection, the poems explore themes of spiritual yearning, the rhythms of the natural world, and the transient beauty of human experience. Written with a rhythmic sensibility that echoes the great Romantics to whom Fausset dedicated much of his scholarly career, this early collection serves as both an aesthetic achievement and a thematic precursor to his later philosophical writings.
