Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the history of a prominent French family of artists, the Vernets, tracing their lineage from the 17th-century painter Antoine Vernet, who decorated furniture and carriages, through the patriarch of the family, Claude Joseph Vernet, celebrated for his seascapes and official paintings of French ports, to his son Carle Vernet, known for his battle paintings and depictions of military life, and finally to Carle's son Horace Vernet, who achieved great fame for his Orientalist paintings. The book delves into the lives and works of these artists, exploring their artistic development, influences, and impact on the art world. It examines the family's artistic legacy, spanning over three generations, and their contributions to various art movements and genres, providing insights into the evolution of art and artistic styles in France during the 18th and 19th centuries.
