Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Fair. 1st Edition. Vargo Stattens real name was John Russell Fearn. A prolific cross genre writer, he worked with many pseudonyms, such as Adam Quirke, Clayton Drew, Golden Amazon, and many others. Fearns was one of the first British writers to appear in American pulps. His work received praise for its vividness, and he certainly produced some of the greatest and most collectable British Pulps. This one is an absolute classic SF example, and it is easy to see why he is so sought after. Published early in the 1950s this is an exceptional copy of a now very rare book. Okay, these editions were designed to be transient; they were read and often re-read, and if you can even find a copy of this one you will be fortunate. It is in FAIR condition only, and there are no major abuses, and it might be the great Ron Turner who created the cover art. BUT - it has some repaired damage, which means this is offered at a reduced price. I repeat, this is VERY RARE British 1st edition paperback, whatever the condition. Harris designed a special launch bookplate, which was then mounted inside the first edition books at the London launch of Hannibal Rising. This set is now hugely sought after. It includes a spectacular large porcelain dinner plate, dated '05/12/06' and showing the diagrammatic layout of human joints at 'Hannibal's Brasserie'; a delicate paper napkin with printed date and title; and, of course, a first printing of the UK first edition hardback, with the signature on the exclusive full colour bookplate. This is a mint set, stored in a special lowlight room since that memorable night at the flagship Waterstone's store in Piccadilly London. A fabulous collectable set indeed. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. EXTREMELY RARE to find this crime fiction title from Faber & Gwyer in a near complete jacket. A classic Deco artwork cover, printed in two colours on a beige stock paper, it has minimal losses, and nothing is missing that is 'live'. Tight and firm cloth binding. Some foxing inside, inevitable when using cheaper paper I'm afraid, but the overall appearance of this rare title is very collectable indeed. It has a gift inscription, neatly written on the inside jacket flap. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng.

Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Very Good. EXTREMELY RARE ROYAL EPHEMERA. A small scale book that depicts, in brilliant chromo-lithography, all of Queen Victorias palaces. Historical notes on the buildings make this a fascinating collectable, with Tennysons 'To The Queen' occupying the centre spread. This is now a rare booklet, as many were broken up to be framed individually. Although small in scale, this tiny book somehow punches above its weight. There are some ancient tape marks on the inside cover edges, and a useful dated inscription that has all the elegance of an age that expected good penmanship. It is dated 1894. There is no date on the book itself, but it can be safely assumed to have been published around that time. I have tried to show as clearly as possible the damage to the front cover. But this is not about damage; this is all about RARITY. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng.

It was rediscovered by Richard Dalby in 1983 while he was preparing the definitive Stoker bibliography. This elegant Limited edition was issued in 125 copies. Only 100 of these were offered for sale, this being copy number 114. It is very scarce indeed. Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Fine. EXTREMELY RARE! REX WHISTLER designed this glorious programme for the State Performance in Honour of The President of the French Republic and Madame Lebrun, at the Royal Opera House, March 22, 1939. WHISTLER's cover design is an elaborate affair; the embossed card covers are ingeniously cut away in curves. It is fabulously decorated by Rex Whistler on the front and back. A gold cord, with tassels, forms the binding round the twelve folded pages. Dancers included Margot Fonteyn, Robert Helpmann, William Chappell, Frank Staff and Frederick Ashton. Sir Thomas Beecham conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This is a great collectable example of ephemera in its own right, but it is of especial value for admirers of Rex Whistler.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. VERY RARE SIGNED first edition of the Bodley Head 1933 hardback. A typical vigorous blue ink scrawled signature, in full, 'John Cowper Powys', right across the title page at an angle. This looks as if it has been written in some kind of blue fountain pen, because it is still fresh looking although slightly faded. The book is still fairly tightly bound, and although it is obviously a book that has been read it has obviously been treated with respect. It is printed on a thin onion skin type of paper, which is necessary with such an extensive text; the spine is sunned. It has a previous owner's blind stamp to the half title, but this is rather attractive so it does not seem like a fault. The cloth binding is not damaged. The jacket is worn, and the spine of it has a section missing at the top, but fortunately there is no loss to any type or live matter, just a missing area of white jacket. But, just to emphasise, this is rare as a signed first edition and even more rare with the jacket, which is now protected inside a mylar sleeve. The great Simon & Schuster limited edition is the most desirable for the collector, but this Bodley Head edition is even rarer as a signed first. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. First British and World First hardcover edition, and an extremely rare book indeed. This is the first collection of his "Known Space" stories. The title story won the 1967 Hugo Award. Unclipped protected jacket, and very rare thus. Most hardcover copies disappeared into libraries with the subsequent abuses of stamps and inserts. This one obviously never found itself anywhere near a library, and got itself into the hands of someone who cared because it is in better shape than any copy I have seen. Clean and tight text block, binding a little sunned at the top edge, but no bent corners to the binding. No inscriptions, no turned down corners. Jacket is brilliant too. A stunning collection of truly great SF stories. Niven's second book, and I believe this was its only hardcover issue.
