The interview was republished under the title Walker Evans Incognito by the Eakins Press Foundation in 1995, and later reissued in 2019 as Walker Evans: The Interview with Leslie George Katz. In 1971, Art in America published an interview with Walker Evans conducted by Leslie George Katz, writer and publisher of the Eakins Press. The interview is charming and illuminating in its clarity and candor. Nearing the end of his life, Evans speaks freely about his influences and how he got started as a photographer ("I was damn well going to be an artist and I wasn't going to be a businessman," he remembers), and reflects on his work and his thinking. The interview has become legendary, consulted by curators, scholars and students for half a century and considered a definitive source for insights into the process, philosophy and personality of one of America's greatest photographers. In 1995, the Eakins Press Foundation republished Evans' interview in a deluxe clothbound edition titled Walker Evans Incognito.…

Completamente illustrato con fotografie in bianco e nero e a colori (servizi da "The Architectural Record", "Hound & Horn", "Fortune", "Vogue", "Flair", "The Cambridge Review", "Architectural Forum", etc.) Bibliografia cronologica . Cm 33x25. pp. 224. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Condición: As New. Prima edizione (First Edition). Volume pubblicato in occasione della mostra omonima presso il Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 3 febbraio - 25 maggio 2009. Testo di Jeff L. Rosenheim. Illustrazioni a colori. Indice della cartoline riprodotte e bibliografia . Cm 26,5x21. pp. 407. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Añadir al carritoPhotograph mounted on board. #10 of 10. 1931 Walker Evans photograph, sometimes known as "Bed and Stove, Truro, Massachusetts," printed by Evans in 1941 for the exhibition "American Photographs at $10" at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. SIGNED twice on the mount by Evans. The exhibition was aimed at promoting photography as an art form to the general American public, and helping photographers to sell their work as such. Nine American photographers agreed to participate, submitting a single photograph each to the show. They included Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Helen Levitt, among the others. The Museum asked each of the nine to print 10 duplicates of their featured photograph, and these would be available for sale to the public for $10 each. The present print is number 10 of this series of 10 printed by Evans for this exhibition. The number "41.1902.10" is pencilled at bottom right corner on back side of the think mounting board (see description of lot 60, Sotheby's Photographs Sale, October 17, 2006 for more information and discussion of this numbering scheme). Photograph has some silvering, and the mount has some old dampstains. Black and white photograph (ilustrador).…
