Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. HANFSTAENGL, Ernst "Putzi". Hitler: The Missing Years. London: Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1957. First UK edition, first impression. Octavo. 299 pp., with frontispiece portrait and an introduction by Brian Connell. A significant insider memoir by Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl (1887-1975), the German-American businessman and Harvard graduate who became closely associated with Adolf Hitler during the 1920s and early 1930s and later served as the Nazi Party's foreign press chief before falling from favour and leaving Germany in 1937. Hanfstaengl's account is important for the unusually intimate access it records to Hitler and the early Nazi leadership, particularly in its observations of Hitler's personality, habits, political methods and social circle during the movement's rise to power. The contemporary dustwrapper prominently carries praise from historian Alan Bullock, who considered the memoir especially successful in presenting a credible portrait of Hitler as a man. The 1957 Eyre & Spottiswoode edition is bibliographically recorded at 299 pages. The present copy is in particularly attractive condition: binding nice and tight, publisher's cloth bright and clean, and pages generally nice and clean. The original pictorial dustwrapper is very good, slightly nicked, chipped and rubbed at the extremities with light general wear, but substantially complete, bright and visually strong. Near fine in a very good original dustwrapper. A desirable first edition of one of the better-known memoirs by a member of Hitler's early inner circle. Stock code 004182. Location: Bookroom.…
