Der Autor (1869-1955) galt in seiner Zeit als herausragender Experte für Juoikosgesang in Schweden. In seinem bürgerlichen Beruf war er Bahn-Beamter. Seine besondere Passion galt der Volksmusik der Lappen, dem Juoikosgesang. Mit Hilfe konservierter Musik-Wachszylinder gelang es ihm, wichtige Aspekte einer vom Untergang bedrohten Sami-Kultur in Schweden zu bewahren. Im April 2025 wurden seine Forschungen in das Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO aufgenommen.-Rekonstruktion und Übersetzung der lappischen Originaltexte von Björn Collinder. Das Werk ist in der Reihe "Acta Lapponica" des schwedischen Hugo Gebers Verlages erschienen, in welcher auch "Die Lappische Zaubertrommel" von Ernst Manker verlegt wurde. Im Anhang findet sich eine Auflistung der von Karl Tirén gesammelten Juoikos-Motive: Kosmos, Erde und Landschaft, Meer, Seen und Wasserläufe, Wetter, Tierwelt (wilde Säugetiere), Tierwelt II (zahme Tiere), Tierwelt III (Vögel), Tierwelt IV (Niedere Tiere), Menschen, Geisterwelt, Sagengestalten, Gefühlsleben, verschiedene Motive (u.a. Medizin) und verschiedene Gesangsgruppen (u.a. Liebes- und Wiegenlieder).-Einband mit diskreten Farbschattierungen (siehe Foto).
