Condición: Gut. 160 Seiten mit zahlreichen Abbildungen, Guter Zustand - leichte Gebrauchsspuren am Schutzumschlag. Zeichnerporträt : Erich Sokol (geboren am 31. März 1933 in Wien; gestorben am 20. Februar 2003 in Mödling) war ein österreichischer Illustrator und Karikaturist. Sokol studierte ab 1953 an der Hochschule für Welthandel in Wien und ab 1957 am Institute of Design in Chicago. Während seiner Tätigkeit als politischer Karikaturist der Arbeiter-Zeitung von 1960 bis 1967 erlangte er erste Bekanntheit. 1967 wechselte Sokol als Chefgrafiker zum frisch reformierten ORF, wo er ab 1987 als Art Director für den gesamten Design-Bereich des ORF zuständig war. Neben seiner Anstellung beim ORF blieb er aber weiterhin Karikaturist und Illustrator diverser Zeitungen, etwa Gestalter vieler Titelseiten der auflagestarken Kronen-Zeitung. Bereits 1957 war Hugh Hefner, der Gründer und Herausgeber des Playboys, auf Sokols Talent aufmerksam geworden und hatte ihn als regelmäßigen Mitarbeiter gewonnen. Bis zuletzt arbeitete Sokol auch für den Playboy. Bekannte Schöpfungen Sokols sind die ?ÖVP-Tant'? in der Arbeiter-Zeitung, das ORF-Auge genannte Senderlogo und seine Kreisky-Karikaturen. Sokols Titelseiten für Kronen-Zeitung, trend und profil zeichneten sich durch Vielschichtigkeit und hintergründigen Humor aus. Sokol gestaltete auch das Schallplattencover zu Der Herr Karl von Carl Merz und Helmut Qualtinger sowie das Logo des Cateringunternehmens Do & Co. Nach Sokols Ableben wurde von seiner Witwe eine Privatstiftung zur Sicherung seines Nachlasses geschaffen. Ein großer Teil desselben wurde vom Karikaturmuseum Krems erworben und gezeigt. Erich Sokol ist in einem ehrenhalber gewidmeten Grab in der 'Ehrenhain' genannten Gruppe 40, Nummer 88 des Wiener Zentralfriedhofs beerdigt. Sokol wurden für sein künstlerisches Schaffen zahlreiche Ehrungen zuteil, unter anderem der Nestroy-Ring (1985), der Olaf-Gulbransson-Preis (2001), der Preis der Artist's Guild of Chicago und das Ehrenzeichen der Stadt Wien in Gold.
