    in-8. 8ff. 256ff chiffrés. 3ff. Demi-veau, dos lisse orné (reliure du début du 19e siècle). Seconde édition des uvres poétiques des Strozzi, père et fils, qui avaient été recueillies et publiées pour la première fois par Aldo Manuzio en 1513. Issu d'une famille puissante grâce à laquelle il tissa des liens avec la maison d'Este de Ferrare, Tito Vespasiano Strozzi (1422-1505) occupa de hautes fonctions dans l'administration et la justice de cette région. Il était connu pour ses composition humanistes en latin et quelques sonnets en italien. On dit qu'il a passé sa vie à améliorer les poèmes d"amour qu'il avait écrits dans sa jeunesse. Son fils Ercole Strozzi (1471-1508), qu'il associa à ses hautes fonctions d'administration, était ami de Lucrèce Borgia et il avait épousé la poétesse Barbara Torelli, dont il eut une fille en plus des deux enfants illégitimes qu'on lui connaît. "Cette union causa sa mort, prétendent les historiens contemporains: il fut assassiné par un amant de sa femme, qu'on croit être Alphonse d'Este" (Larousse). Cette édition contient la dédicace à Lucrèce Borgia écrite pour la première édition, ainsi qu'un épithaphe dédié à Ercole Strozzi par Aldo Manuzio, Le volume se termine par: "Oratio Tvmvltvaria Habita à Caelio Calcagnino In Fvnere Hercvlis Strozae", en prose. Large tache ancienne d'encre sur la page de titre, dont la marque d'imprimeur a été coloriée, avec une mention manuscrite contemporaine: "Manzatus santo me possidet" (?). Quelques défauts à la reliure. Renouard, Bibliographie des Editions de Simon de Colines, p. 166: "Copie de l'édition aldine de 1513".

Bound in a very fine later full calf (around 1700), profusely gilt spine, titlelabel in leather with gilt lettering, broad gilt borders on covers, edges of covers gilt, edges of leaves gilt. A very small nick to top of spine. (8) lvs. + (1-)256,(3) lvs. + 1 blank. A small and very faint dampstain to upper inner margins of the first 8 lvs. Otherwise very clean throughout. A beautifull printed and wide-margined copy (17x11,5 cm). Scarce second edition of the "opera" of the poetical works of both father and son. Their collected opere were first published by Aldus Manutius in 1513, together with works of his son, under the title Strozii poëtae pater et filius. The offered edition is copied from this Aldus-edition. They were both members of the famous Strozzi-family exiled from Florence.Adams S 1957. - Graesse VI: 512.
