Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. vii, [1], 151, [2] pages. Contains seven full-page black and white illustrations of scrap yards, as well as one full-page Flow Chart of Scrap and other Raw Materials, From Blast Furnace to Steel Finish Milll. Also contains a full-page chart on Vital Statistics of the Scrap Industry in gross tons, and one full-page chart on Calculated Metal Values in Scrap, Pig and Alloys. A black and white illustration of the Distinguished Service Award presented by the War Production Board to the Iron and Steel Scrap Industry for meritorious service in maintaining a sufficient flow of ferrous scrap to meet production schedules required in prosecution of the General War Effort appears opposite page one. According to Edwin C. Barringer in The Story of Scrap, salvage drives in 1942-'43 yielded about 4 million tons of scrap. "During the entire war," he says, "perhaps about 9 million tons was brought out that would not have been available to dealers under normal conditions." This book is a revision and amplification of the booklet, "The Story of Scrap," which was published by the Institute of scrap Iron & Steel Inc. in 1939. The aim of this book is to portray the basic facts of the industry coupled with a semi-technical description of the leading scrap-consuming processes.
