"Jerry Todd and the Whispering Mummy" by Leo Edwards is just the sort of story that would have raised the hair on my young, imaginative head. Mummies! Whispering Mummies! Such a thought would have been enough to send shivers down my spine. This is a nice clean copy, published by Grosset and Dunlap in 1924 There are four contemporary halftone plate illustrations by B. N. Salg that accompany the story. The Jerry Todd stories took place in the fictional town of Tutter, Illinois, which was actually based on Utica, Illinois. Edwards used his memories of his time spent living in Utica to create the stories. SERIES : Jerry Todd Series. TITLE : Jerry Todd and the Whispering Mummy. INTERIOR - End-papers are toned, and the front end-paper has a mild ripple effect at the top; paper for the text is lightly toned and displays scattered foxing (the foxing is most noticeable on the leaves adjacent to the plate illustrations). Other than the gift inscription, no writing or marking - clean and presentable. DUST-JACKET - Not present. The front flap (only) still remains in place, just as found.
