Añadir al carrito[JUVENILE] [POETRY[ [HUMOR]. Small 4to; [40]pp; glazed pictorial front board, an illustration of a boy sliding down a banister on the front, brown cloth shelf back; color pictorials with text; binding tight; scuffing and chipping of edges, hand-soiled boards, lightly age-toned paper; very good minus. OCLC locates 4 copies. Dr. H…einrich Hoffmann (1809-1894) was a German psychiatrist best known for his children's book Struwwelpeter, a humorous look at children's behavior and manners. The illustrator and engraver are not identified but may be Edward P. Cogger, who was responsible for the artwork in Struwwelpeter. The humorous poems begin with "Jimmy Sliderlegs," the boy who slid down banisters and wore out his pants. Other included poems: Envious Minny; The History of the Dirty Child; Cruel Paul; Slovenly Betsy; Phoebe Ann, The Proud Girl; Discontented Lucy; Idle Fritz; Simple Hans; Heedless Hugo; The Night Wanderer; Ned, The Toy-Breaker; Prying Will; The Little Glutton; Tom Bogus, The Sweet-Tooth; Harry Cobus and the Shang-Hais; The History of Doctor Wango Tango; and The Tragical Story of Mamy Katchem and Her Kittens. The copies listed in OCLC estimate the publication date around 1870, but we feel the date is later. The publisher posted an announcement in Publisher's Weekly in January 1918 stating, "TO THE TRADE / We have decided to change Our Firm / Name on and after February 1st, 1918 / From Sully and Kleinteich / To George Sully & Co.". Edward P COGGER ? (ilustrador).
