First Draft script for an unproduced film. With a few annotations in manuscript pencil. Based on Ibsen's 1892 play, considered one of his most revealing works, about Halvard Solness, a master builder who returns to his hometown to construct a church with a towering steeple. Iit is revealed Solness has a great fear of heights. Ye…t he climbs the steeple for the grand unveiling of the building, only to fall to his death. Edward Bond was an English writer, and director, famous for his many plays which lead to the end of theater censorship in the UK, including "Saved" (1965). Though not wholly concerned with cinema, he produced several screenplays in his life, including an adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's "Laughter in the Dark" (1968). Set in Europe 1900. Red titled wrappers, noted as First Draft on the front wrapper, dated May 13, 1975, with credits for screenwriter Edward Bond, and playwright Henrik Ibsen. Title page present, dated May 13, 1975, noted as First Draft, with credits for playwright Ibsen and screenwriter Bond. 106 leaves, with last page of text numbered 101. Mechanical duplication. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Near Fine bound with three gold brads.

Draft script for the 1970 production of "Early Morning" at La Mama E.T.C. in New York, with a flyer for the performance (as well as some review clippings) laid in. Copy belonging to actress Tresa Hughes, with her annotations throughout. "Early Morning" holds the distinction of being the last play to be banned by the English cens…ors under the rule of Lord Chamberlain. It was subsequently staged as a "private club" engagement (but at the Royal Court Theatre in London) for only one performance before being shut down under the threat of police action. This working script represents the first American staging of the play at La Mama E.T.C. off-off-Broadway. Green studio wrappers, with credits for playwright Bond. Title page present, with credits for playwright Bond. 133 leaves, mimeograph duplication. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus bound with two gold screw brads.
