Hardcover. Condición: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 20,5 x 29 cm, Hardcover, 64 pages, 45 color & 5 b/w illustrations - Pietro Roccasalva (born 1970 in Modica, lives and works in Milan) is one of the most singular and promising Italian artists in the post-Cattelan generation in Italy. His work is a visionary and erudite mix of conce…ptual rigour and hallucinatory extravaganza: starting from painting as his main medium of expression and ranging from sculpture to installation, from "tableaux vivants" to drawing and film, Roccasalva's creative world is an unceasing investigation into the meaning of images and how we relate to them. His iconic obsessions are always set in complex installations in which the different elements act like characters on a stage, performing an erratic script that probes a wide range of historical references, from art history to philosophy, music, and literature.

Paperback. Condición: New. *** FREE UPGRADE to Courier/Priority Shipping Upon Request *** - *** IN STOCK AND IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT - Flawless copy, brand new, pristine, never opened -- Text in English and Italian. 144 pp. ; 47 illus. (44 in color. ) -- with a bonus offer--; In the course of his all-too-brief career,… the Italian artist Gino de Dominicis (1947-1998) was frequently characterized as an enigmatic enfant terrible, whose terms of creativity seemingly required the sacrifice of conventional career strategies. Positioned at an emphatic remove from the Arte Povera and Transavanguardia movements, De Dominicis rarely, if ever, allowed his marvelous portrait drawings, tempera-and-gold-on-panel paintings and sculptures to be documented; he eschewed catalogue publications and eventually even exhibition. Since his death, as his influence on subsequent generations of Italian artists has become evident, efforts to revaluate his work have led to retrospectives at MoMA P.S.1 in the United States and the Museo Nazionale Delle Arti Del XXI Secolo in Italy. Figurative Theorems was published for a posthumous exhibition of De Dominicis' graphic works at the Venice Biennale, and contextualizes this body of work with essays and photographs.
