Of the 14 book covers, 7are detached, one is very loose. Matching marbled text edges and fly leaves. Contents: volumes I, IV, V, VI and VII each have a frontispiece, with Volumes V and VI with and extra plate. Some title pages show offsetting from the frontispieces with some foxing. Aside from this, the text pages are exceedingly bright and clean, with nice presswork and ample borders. The first three volumes were published as a set in 1833 by Richard Bentley of London and in the back of Volume III is an Index. The additional four volumes, "Concluding Series" were also published by Richard Bentley with dates of publication 1843 & 1844. All are first editions. The bindings are worn, the text blocks are all fine, and the condition of the texts are excellent and worthy of rebinding or restoration.
