Collated, complete.Volume II is illustrated with a tinted lithographic frontispiece, an illustrated lithographic title page, two chromolithographic reproductions of a choir book, eleven hand coloured aquatints, five zincographs, nine double page or folding chromolithographs of stained glass windows, and nine further chromolithographic plates. Collated, complete.This celebration of Christian art was edited and collected by John Weale, and is beautifully illustrated with depictions of stained glass windows. Volume One features a critical history of the works of Albert Durer. This scarce work is noted for its use of ambitious hand coloured plates, and impressive chromolithographs, which had only been first patented less than ten years prior.Bound in half morocco with cloth to the boards.
