A serial killer / police procedural with an added focus of forensic science. A relatively scarce title, the first from this author, with the extremely scarce bright, price-clipped dust jacket. The dust jacket is bright and very pleasing though it is price-clipped. There is some minor restoration on the verso to the spine ends and flap hinges, not visible from the front. A small town is beset with several murders that the local coroners office has ruled accidental. Lawyer and criminologist Lyman K. Wilbur is called in by friends to investigate and an autopsy reveals a different and more disturbing scenario. Then more murder, arson, and bombing. A really good book with interesting characters and, for me at least, it seemed an amazing amount of drinking by everybody during this Prohibition Era setting. Very Good / Near Fine.…
