Hardcover. Condición: Good. 16mo. 160 pages. Hardcover bound in original decorative cloth with cover designs embossed in gilt. The front cover has a gilt image of Kriss Kringle holding toys beside a Christmas Tree. The binding is rubbed and worn but sound. The cloth is fraying and has brief tears at the spine ends. Corners bumpe…d. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. The text is damped along the bottom margin. Early owner's inscription on the front pastedown reads "C. G. Parker / 18 Garden St. Old Cambridge". Two signatures on the front flyleaf; one is C. T. Parker, and the same signature is on the third flyleaf. There are two stray pencil marks on the "Advertisement" page after the title page. A pencil notation on the title page reads, "Illus with 55 woodcuts". There are 13 full page illustrations and numerous other text engravings. No author given, but Worldcat notes various authors and engravings, including Henry W. Longfellow. His poem, "The Village Blacksmith" (first published in 1840) appears on pages 57-58 and is unattributed. A collection of prose and poetry for children. Not every item in the text pertains to Christmas, although several poems and bits of prose do relate to Christmas.
