Near contemporary 19th century quarter leather and paste-paper boards. Lettering piece on spine split with small losses. Page dimensions: 214 x 132mm. Page edges dyed red. Some rubbing to joints. Moderate rubbing and wear to edges and corners of boards. Gutters split at endpapers. ; This volume is divided into 8 individually paginated sections, each with their own part title leaf. The imprints on the part titles are either undated, dated 1819, or dated 1820. The volume is lacking 3 plates in total. Lacking two plates from McKeevor's "Voyage to Hudson's Bay" - the frontispiece "Island of Resolution", and the final plate "A Moonlight Scene on the Ice." Also lacking one plate, "View of the Town and Fort of Mosambique", from Prior's "Voyage to the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans". The "Chart of the Route of the Nisus plate", also from Prior's "Voyage", has been backed with thicker paper; and the following plate also has paper backing a 3" tear along one of the folds. The plate "Slaves in Barbadoes" in Waller's "Voyage in the West Indies" has been cropped at the upper margin, with loss to some of the printed area of the plate. Waller also has a 2" tear without loss to the title leaf. Contents: I. "Travels in Egypt [. . .]" by Count de Forbis; II. "A Voyage to Hudson's Bay, during the Summer of 1812 [. . .]" by Thomas M'Keevor. This is followed by Freminville's "Voyage to the North Pole", which is continously pagination from M'Keevor's "Voyage", but with a separate title page. III. First edition, one of 470 numbered copies on papier blanc du Marais from the total edition of 500, folio (40.2 x 28.2cm), original wrappers, [10] pp., 66 heliogravures on 56 sheets, printed in various colour tints, with captioned tissue-guards tipped in.Founded in 1894 by Robert Demachy and Constant Puyo, the Photo-club de Paris was the French equivalent of the Camera Club of New York and the Linked Ring in London, associations of photographers dedicated to the emergent philosophy of pictorialism, which promoted photography as a fine art rather than purely as a means of documenting reality. This overview of their first exhibition includes photographs by leading figures including Alfred Stieglitz, James Craig Annan and Rudolf Eickemeyer Jr, and numerous others. Printers incluce L'Imprimerie Chaix, Georges Petit Gallery (supplied, of Paris), T. Fillon/LeMercier & Cie (Paris), Richard Paulussen (Vienna), James Craig Annan (Glasgow), Paul Dujardin (Paris), J. Blechinger (Austria).t69 of the photographers accepted for this first exposition were from France but the material included was highly international. There were 30 photographers from Great Britain including Scotland and the Isle of Wight; Austria had 17 followed by Belgium and Holland with ten. Nine were from America: including Emilie Clarkson, John Bullock, John Dumont, Rudolph Eickemeyer, Emma Farnsworth, Clarence Moore, William Post, Robert Redfield and Alfred Stieglitz. Works from Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and Switzerland were hung. Algeria was represented by at least one photograph by the Frenchman Emile Frechon. Une planche semble manquante au volume 11 qui en annonce 8 mais je n'en trouve que 7. Les reliures sans grand intérêt sont en excellent état ; bien propres, complètes et solides ne montrant qu'à l'occasion de petites marques blanchâtres à la toile verte. Les intérieurs sont en très bon état, propres et solidement reliés, avec à l'occasion quelques déchirures aux marges de certaines pages qui ont été mal découpées, une portion de la couverture en papier d'origine du volume 5 est manquante (partie inférieure), une petite réparation avec adhésif oxydé à la couverture en papier du volume 7 et la même chose aux deux dernières pages du volume 8. Notons pour finir un jaunissement moyen des pages. Toutes les planches sont en excellent état sans avoir souffert de jaunissement.
